When it comes to embracing your surroundings, this open-air hotel room—courtesy of Switzerland’s Null Stern Hotel—is the ultimate outdoor experience. No walls, no roof, and complete exposure to Mother Nature’s weather patterns makes this accommodation truly one of a kind. Designed by conceptual artists Frank and Patrik Riklin, the room was created for guests to experience a night with the stars, while showcasing the natural splendor of the Swiss landscape.
Inspired by the motto “zero real estate”—the concept of creating a space with no walls and no roof—the design duo first tested out their alfresco accommodation concept back in 2008, after creating a nuclear bunker in Sevelen, Switzerland, touted as “the first zero-star hotel in the world.”
