The island of Foula – a Shetland island off the coast of Scotland – is perhaps unsurprisingly where Shetland ponies originated from and horses have apparently lived there since the Bronze Age (3200-600

Shetland Ponies have heavy coats and short little legs – and sort of look like stuffed animals. And on Foula, they outnumber the human population, by 50:1.

With just 30 inhabitants, the Foula is one of Britain’s most remote inhabited islands.
