The Emblem Hotel – Prague, Czech Republic

Lifestyle hotels strive to create welcoming and functional communal spaces fostering a sense of togetherness, promoting networking and erasing formalities which keep one from enjoying shared experiences. However from our point of view, lifestyle hotels tend to be so over focused on creating these spaces for the benefit of the entire community that they lose sight of the fact that they are hosting overnight guests who tend to get lost in the shuffle of the crowds.

Recently however, we had the immense pleasure of experiencing the best of what this concept has to offer in the beautiful city of Prague. Nestled in a ‘quiet as a mouse’ side street, just around the corner from Prague’s most sought after sights we found a jewel of a lifestyle hotel which is just as picture perfect as its postcard surroundings.

The owners of this hotel, intelligently, hired a team of designers, artists and architects who collaborated seamlessly together to produce stunning, effective, comfortable and thought provoking elegant spaces. WHAT A TREAT for absolutely anyone who is aesthetically driven.

The Emblem Hotel endorses a feeling of welcome and warmth by foregoing the usual obvious hotel like entrance and instead giving a sense of coming home. The lobby is uncluttered and clearly designed to impart comfort and understated elegance. The front desk is off to the side to further nurture a home vs. hotel feeling.

As you walk in you are immediately enveloped by the authentic hospitality of the young and super friendly staff who take the time to listen, explain, advise and generally be of superb assistance. I cannot overstate how welcoming and knowledgeable the staff is and how many times during our stay they made us feel truly cared for.

While our room was not enormous, it was impeccably furnished with the same exquisite taste as the common spaces and the incredibly comfortable bed with its high end bedding, was hard to get out of in the mornings.

We spent a bit of time in each of the common spaces in-between exploring the city sights, finding the experience most rewarding. We met lovely people, interacted with the hotel staff, heard some local news, gathered our thoughts and sipped superb Merlot offered on hand in the Maharal Club.
We stayed at the five star Emblem Hotel for four nights and true to the promise inherent to its lifestyle brand, we could have easily and happily stayed on for an indefinite course of time, exhausting what the city has to offer long before admitting that it’s time to leave…
P.S: Upon departure, while conveying our desire to come back soon, we were tipped that the hotel is working with a group of local curators to build an international art collection and stock their Art Library. This new venture will also offer complementary “Art Walks” as well as other endeavors. Can’t wait to come back!
